SD Pen Club is a San Diego community for people who love fountain pens, ink and paper. We run this website, sdpenclub.com, and the Instagram account @sdpenclub. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell or rent what we do collect.
The short version
- If you join the meetup email list, we keep your first name and email address and use them only for SD Pen Club news.
- The app we use on Instagram only publishes our own posts to our own account. It does not collect anything about you.
- We do not use analytics, ads or tracking cookies.
- To have your email removed, send a direct message to @sdpenclub on Instagram.
The meetup email list
When you sign up for meetup updates, you give us your first name and email address. The form runs on Netlify Forms, part of Netlify, the company that hosts this website, and your entry is stored in our Netlify account. Along with what you type, Netlify records basic technical details about the submission, such as your IP address and browser type, which help it filter out spam. You can read Netlify's privacy policy for how they handle it.
We use your name and email only to send SD Pen Club news, like the date and place of the next meetup. We do not sell, rent or share the list, we do not add you to anyone else's list, and only the people who run SD Pen Club can see it.
Want off the list? Send a direct message to @sdpenclub on Instagram with the email address you signed up with, and we will remove it.
Our Instagram account
@sdpenclub is a public Instagram account. When you follow us, like or comment on a post, or send us a message, Instagram handles that information under its own privacy policy. We see what any account owner sees: your public profile, your comments on our posts, and the messages you send us. We do not copy, export or sell any of it.
The app we use to post
SD Pen Club uses a small app, registered with Meta, for one job: publishing our own photos and videos to our own Instagram account, @sdpenclub, through Meta's official Instagram API. It asks only for basic access to our account and permission to publish content to it.
The app can only reach our account. It does not sign in as anyone else, it does not collect or store data about other Instagram users, and it does not read your profile, likes, comments or messages. The only information it handles is our own posts and our own account details, such as our username.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies of its own, and we do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Our host, Netlify, may use a cookie only when it is strictly needed to deliver the site, and like any web host it keeps server logs, such as IP addresses, to run the site and keep it secure.
Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to download them. Google Fonts does not set cookies.
Data deletion
Anyone can ask us to delete their information at any time. Here is how:
- Send a direct message to @sdpenclub on Instagram.
- Tell us the email address you want removed.
- We delete it from our email list, delete your form entry from our Netlify account, and reply to let you know it is done.
Our Instagram app does not collect or store data about other people, so there is no app data about you to delete. Comments you leave on our posts and messages you send us live on Instagram. You can delete them yourself in the Instagram app at any time, or ask us and we will remove your comments from our posts.
Children
SD Pen Club is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, message us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If anything here changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
